The EIS has welcomed the news that the Scottish Government will roll-out the availability of Covid vaccinations to young people in the 5-11 year old age group.

Commenting, EIS General Secretary Larry Flanagan said, "The EIS welcomes the announcement that children in the 5-11 age group will be offered a Covid vaccine, subject to parental consent - although this is a decision that could have been made sooner."

"Case numbers in primary schools have been particularly high in recent months, with significant numbers of pupils missing school after testing positive. Rolling out the availability of vaccines to children in this age group will help to make our schools safer for pupils and staff."
