Next week's strike action will go ahead as planned, with Primary-sector members taking action on Tuesday 10th and Secondary-sector members and Associated Professionals striking on Wednesday 11th. Members have received individual emails confirming their designated strike days.
Following a request from the Scottish Government, EIS representatives alongside other teacher trade unions representatives met informally today with the Scottish Government and COSLA representatives, to discuss the outstanding teachers' pay claim for 2022/23. This settlement should have been in pay packets last April.
Unfortunately, the Scottish Government and COSLA have brought forward no new offer so the only offer on the table is the 5% or worse offer which was unanimously rejected by the Teachers' Side of the SNCT back in November.
An SNCT Extended Joint Chairs meeting will take place on Monday afternoon, as requested by the teacher unions, though all sides understand that no new offer will emerge in time to avert this coming Tuesday and Wednesday's strikes.
We wish members all the best in carrying out the agreed action in pursuit of a fair pay settlement for all of Scotland’s teachers.
