Under the Equality Act 2010 it is unlawful to discriminate on the basis of sex, whether indirectly or directly.
This includes protections for trans people and people who are pregnant. In all aspects of society, women as a group are significantly affected by discrimination and inequality on the basis of their gender, and the EIS are involved in a range of efforts to address this.
