The 177th Annual General Meeting of the Educational Institute of Scotland, will take place in Aviemore from Thursday to Saturday this week.

The AGM is the sovereign body of the EIS, and the decisions taken during the conference will set the priorities for the EIS in the year ahead. The event brings together teachers and lecturers from across Scotland, and is set to see a total of 75 Motions debated over the 3-day event, along with keynote speeches from outgoing EIS President Andrene Bamford (Thursday) and General Secretary Andrea Bradley (Friday).

This year’s programme includes 22 Motions on Education matters, 5 on Employment Relations matters, 14 on Equality matters, 22 on Organisation matters, and 12 on Salaries matters.

A key theme running throughout this year’s AGM will be the need for better support and increased investment in Scottish education, to better meet the needs of all learners and to deliver national commitments on education provision in all parts of the country.

Details of the agenda, including the Motions to be debated, is now available on the EIS website.

This year’s AGM is being held at the Macdonald Aviemore resort, from Thursday 8th until Saturday 10th June.

Members of the media are welcome to attend the AGM as observers, and updates will also be posted on the EIS website and on social media throughout the course of the AGM.
