Teachers' Pay Claim 2024/25
January will see EIS members receive the final 2% uplift as part of the pay agreement secured by the Pay Attention campaign. However, even with this significant victory accounted for, there remains a wide gap to overcome to see full restoration of the real terms value of teacher pay held in 2008.
Once this increment reaches pay packets, the top of the main grade salary scale for teachers will stand at £48,516. However, this represents a 26.21% gap from the figure of £61,234 that would have been in place, at this salary point, had teacher pay increased in line with inflation (RPI).
The EIS remains committed to campaigning for the full restoration of teacher pay to the value that it held in 2008. The Salaries Committee will meet in January to set the 2024/25 EIS pay claim and begin the work to take another step forward towards this goal.

EIS FELA - National Ballot for Industrial Action
EIS-FELA members are currently being re-balloted, for Action Short of Strike and Strike Action, in a long running pay dispute that has been further clouded by threats to job security.
College lecturers should have received a pay uplift in September 2022 and will have been in formal dispute with College Employers Scotland (CES) for a whole year come January 2024.
Despite repeated meetings of the NJNC to try and resolve the dispute, the ‘full and final’ pay offer over a 3 year period, tabled by CES in late November, falls below the minimum set by public sector pay policy in both years two and three.
Addressing the crisis in Further Education must be prioritised by the Scottish Government in its upcoming budget. With CES apparently intent on digging in, it is clear that EIS-FELA members must send the strongest possible message to their employers: that the time to facilitate an acceptable pay settlement is now.
All EIS-FELA members are strongly advised to vote YES, to ASOS and Strike Action, in this important re-ballot. As in years past, we will win an acceptable settlement by showing the strength of our collective resolve- smashing the anti-trade union ballot thresholds is an important first step!
