Lyme Disease in Scotland and the UK

Background

1.1 The AGM in June 2010 approved the following resolution: 

"This AGM instructs Council to issue urgent advice to all educational establishments concerning the threat of Lyme Disease in Scotland and the UK. This advice to include information of preventative measures, signs and symptoms, treatment and use of appropriate risk assessments."

Actions

2.1 Advice will be issued in the EIS Bulletin and on the EIS website with a link to BADA-UK (Borreliosis and Associated Diseases Awareness) website.

2.2 BADA-UK is a charity whose sole purpose is to raise awareness and promote prevention of Lyme Disease. It provides advice on the risks of Lyme Disease (Borreliosis), signs and symptoms, preventative measures, risk assessment and treatments. It also publicises up to date information on the threat of Lyme disease in the Scotland and the rest of the
UK.

2.3 BADA-UK has also agreed to provide an article for the October edition of the SEJ.
