Clackmannanshire LA Executive Committee
The EIS is a member-led organisation whose strength lies in collective action. The day-to-day affairs of Clackmannanshire Local Association are overseen by an elected Executive Committee (The Exec).
Each Exec session lasts approximately 1 year from one Annual Business Meeting (ABM) in early March (traditionally at 4 pm on the second Wednesday) until the next. At the ABM, Exec office bearers and other members for the forthcoming session are elected, as are delegates to the National AGM, from valid nominations received. All registered Clackmannanshire EIS members are welcome at the ABM, for which e-mail notification is sent to all who keep their member contact details up to date. Nomination papers can be requested from the LA Secretary. If the LA is proposing motions at the National AGM in June, these are also discussed and possibly amended at the ABM. Usually, the ABM is also addressed by a guest speaker on a topic of common interest to teachers in Clackmannanshire. Traditionally, light refreshments are also provided.
Some members of the Exec are delegated to serve on Clackmannanshire Local Negotiating Committee for Teachers (LNCT) and/or EIS Council.
The Exec meets approximately once every 5 weeks, usually the week prior to an LNCT meeting.
During the COVID pandemic, all meetings were held virtually on a digital platform.
