CEC Budget Engagement 2024
In February, we successfully campaigned against proposals to cut £8.2million from the education budget of Edinburgh’s schools – cuts that would have had an immediate and devastating impact on our schools, and on pupils. However, those cuts were postponed, not scraped entirely. We now need to work to protect education in the coming years.
City of Edinburgh Council has launched a consultation on its future budget Budget Engagement 2024 - Page 1 of 11 - City of Edinburgh Council - Citizen Space, and this is a really good way of us ensuring that education is a priority in all the council’s plans. We would urge all citizens to respond, and to highlight the need to protect education. Here is a guide to some possible answers – though it would be great if you could personalise your answers, as that carries even more weight.
Do, please, encourage all Edinburgh residents to engage in this consultation – together, we can show councillors that they have to prioritise education and must Save Our Schools.

There are five weeks before the full Council meeting on 22nd February to persuade Councillors to reverse this planned cut. By pulling together, we can work together to demand safer and fully resourced schools.
Please encourage parents and teachers to use the template letters below to write to local Councillors and make them aware of how devastating these cuts would be.
