2024 Pay Award

A message from Paul Lawrence -

Colleagues

I’m pleased to let you know that CoSLA (Convention of Scottish Local Authorities) and Trade Unions have agreed in principle the 2024 to 2025 pay award for learning and teaching groups (Teachers, QIOs, Instructors, Educational Psychologists, Education Support Officers) across Scotland.

The agreed pay award is an uplift of 4.27% and covers the period 1 August 2024 to 31 July 2025.

The pay award is in the process of being formally signed-off by COSLA and Trade Unions and updated salary rates for 2024 to 2025 will be available once this process is complete. I anticipate that we’ll be able to share the new salary rates with you in October.

When is the pay increase effective from?

  • Increases to pay will be implemented from 1 August 2024.

When will you receive your pay increase?

I’m keen that you receive the pay award as soon as possible, but due to the timing of the agreement being reached and signed-off nationally, and our local commitment to launch our new HR Payroll system in October, it means that you should receive your pay increase, in full, with your November salary.

Colleagues in scope should receive their back-pay on Thursday 28 November 2024.

I’d like to thank you in advance for your patience in awaiting the delivery of the pay award in November.

2024 to 25 Local Government Employee Pay Award

An agreement on the 2024 to 2025 pay award for Local Government Employees has not yet been reached and I will keep affected colleagues up to date on any information I receive from CoSLA.  Details of the current offer is available on CoSLA’s website.

Questions

I know you may have questions on how the pay award will affect you personally but unfortunately our HR colleagues won’t be able to provide personalised updates at this time.

HR colleagues will however provide as much detail as possible on the Learning and Teaching pay award pages on our website, this will include information on how the pay award may impact you. The new salary rates for 2024 to 2025 will be added to the website as soon as they are available.

Best wishes

Paul Lawrence
Chief Executive

Pensions and Payroll Advice

Stephen Stewart is currently working through a large volume of requests and is prioritising requests from members retiring on health grounds and those who have additional queries on their records with SPPA.  We are therefore unable to provide estimates on a routine basis at present.

There is a lot of information on our website that will be of interest and this link will inform you of the choices you have with regards to your options.

I can advise that you are able to obtain your Annual Benefit Statement from SPPA by logging in or registering via this link If the details on your statement are correct you can then use the online calculators keep track of your pension | SPPA (pensions.gov.scot) to obtain pension figures and there is now a calculator there which addresses the 2015 Remedy.

Legislation for the remedy to the age discrimination issue is yet to be put in place and our website will be updated here with any further developments as they happen.  The administrative and legislative changes required should be in place after April 2024.

Please have a look at our FAQs:

We will continue to organise general sessions for members to answer questions on the McCloud remedy and retirement process including using the calculators.

Dates will be announced in the member bulletin.

I hope this helps and if you have any further questions please email Gillian Sutton: gsutton@eis.org.uk
