NOTE: The Strike Hardship Fund is intended to be used to support colleagues who are disproportionately impacted by the cycle of strike dates - e.g. some part-time members of staff, as a consequence of the pattern of strike days, may lose a significantly higher percentage of their income when compared to a full-time member of staff.
It is not a daily payment for everyone on strike.
In addition, any EIS member who has been in membership for a year may apply to the EIS HQ Benevolence Fund and further details are provided here.
At a special meeting of the EIS Executive Committee on Thursday 30th May, it was agreed to establish a £5Million fund to support FELA members engaged in strike action as part of the ongoing programme of industrial action in our dispute over pay.
The EIS Executive has agreed to the EIS FELA Executive Committee's request to pay a universal hardship payment of up to a maximum of £60 a day for all strike days between May 28th and June 28th.
This financial support is a clear demonstration of the strength of EIS solidarity towards members who have had to endure the worst cost-of-living crisis in recent memory and who have also stood strong when forced to take industrial action to receive a fair and appropriate pay uplift.
