Yesterday the Scottish Government set out its plan for a phased move out of lockdown, including how and when schools may reopen. You can read its strategic framework document here.
Larry Flanagan, EIS General Secretary, offers initial comments on the plan in a letter to members, which can be found here.
Over 26,000 members responded to the survey – which is a fantastic result; thank you.
We are analysing the tens of thousands comments to create narrative reports on the key issues which we will publish as soon as possible. In the meantime, we have produced a slide show presentation of the charts and pdf files of the same.
Both FELA and ULA Executive Committees have recently met via video conference to plan the Institute's response to Covid-19 in the Further and Higher Education sectors respectively.
The Institute has been representing the interests of FELA and ULA members at various meetings with the Scottish Government, STUC and the University Employers Association. Much local work has been carried out by EIS representatives in colleges and universities across Scotland too. An EIS submission was made to the Education & Skills Committee on Further & Higher Education which can be found on our website.
Both FELA and ULA Executive Committees have approved issuing a survey to FELA and ULA members respectively, and the Institute plans to disseminate these to members early next week.
The FELA Executive Committee has also approved Covid-19 Advice to FELA Branches and FELA members which may be found here.
