Palestine – Adoption of a School/College
“That this AGM instruct Council to investigate the adoption of a school/college in each education sector in Palestine.”
Education in Palestine
“This AGM instructs Council to raise awareness amongst EIS members of the issues facing education in Palestine under military occupation.”
Palestine
This AGM instructs Council to:
(a) highlight and publicise concerns at the plight of the Palestine people;
(b) strengthen links with Palestinian Trade Unions;
(c) support initiatives taken by branches to assist in the rebuilding of the education infrastructure in Gaza, including twinning arrangements between schools.
Israeli Military Offensive on Gaza
“This Council deplores the military offensive by Israel on Gaza and agree to:
(a) donate £1000 to Medical Aid for Palestine and donate £1,000 to the Education International Gaza solidarity fund for humanitarian assistance for teachers and students in Gaza;
(b) promote the boycott of Israeli goods and divestment from companies active in Israeli settlements illegal under international law;
(c) support campaigning to stop companies in Scotland trading arms with Israel;
(d) support EIS representation on the proposed STUC Women’s Committee to Palestine in October 2015.”
Israeli Military Offensive on Gaza
The following amended motion
“This Council deplores the military offensive by Israel on Gaza and agree to:

(b) promote the boycott of Israeli goods and divestment from companies active in Israeli settlements illegal under international law;
(c) support campaigning to stop companies in Scotland trading arms with Israel;
(d) support EIS representation on the proposed STUC Women’s Committee to Palestine in October 2015.”
Israel/Palestine: Learning and Teaching Materials:
“That this AGM agree to:
(a) Offer advice and encouragement to teachers and lecturers who develop and use learning and teaching materials that present a balanced understanding of the Israel/Palestine topic;
(b) Promote the wider use of suitable materials.”
“That this AGM express deep concern at the continued occupation of The West Bank and East Jerusalem, the blockade of Gaza and the abuse of Palestinian human rights, including the military detention of children and call on Council to highlight the impact of the occupation on Palestinian children and to campaign, in particular, on the issue of child prisoners in the Occupied Territories.”
Solidarity with Palestinians
“That this AGM reaffirm its commitment to campaigning in solidarity with Palestinians in their struggle for peace and justice and instructs the Institute to:
(a) Support TUC policy, to “boycott the goods of, companies who profit from illegal settlements, the Occupation and the construction of the Wall”, which we view as an act of solidarity with Palestinians, not a dogma or ideology and certainly not an attack on Jewish communities or individuals;
(b) Pressure the Scottish and UK Governments to call on the Israeli Government to comply with international law and human rights treaties;
(c) Work to win the backing of Education International and the ETUC(E) for these policies and to seek to collaborate with like minded unions internationally;
(d) Convey these views to the Israeli Teachers Union;
(e) Express our solidarity with the GUPT and PFUUPE for their objectives for education and discuss with them ways to develop this solidarity;
(f) Call for an end to the discrimination against Palestinian students, teachers and lecturers within Israel;
(g) Continue to campaign for the rights of Palestinian children including child prisoners;
(h) Campaign for Palestinian students to be given fee waivers in Scottish colleges and universities.”
