The Scottish Public Pensions Agency (SPPA) has set out a revised delivery timetable for the 2015 Remedy.

The Agency has made positive progress in the significant challenge of delivering across all four devolved schemes it administers. However, as with most other public service pension scheme managers across the UK, the delivery timescales have been amended beyond the end of March legislative deadline for the delivery of Annual Benefit Statements, known as ABS-RSS for members who are eligible for the 2015 Remedy.

A number of external factors have impacted on the delivery including the creation of a new bespoke delivery solution.

The scale of the Remedy delivery programme has been a significant factor in revising the timescales, with the annual SPPA workload increasing five-fold. Work to deliver ABS-RSS is underway and the SPPA expects to commence delivery of ABS-RSS shortly with most statements being delivered by the end of May.

A smaller number which are more complex to calculate, will be completed by the end of August. ABS-RSS are being issued by email this year and some will be sent by mail. This is different from previous years as the SPPA is moving to a new online member self-service portal. This should be in place for the next round of ABS-RSS.

If you are approaching retirement and eligible for the 2015 Remedy, the SPPA is rolling out the delivery of Remediable Service Statements for members to make a remedy choice as part of the retirement process. This is expected to be fully operational by the end of September.

The Agency is committed to delivering Remedy as quickly and as effectively as possible while ensuring that its key core business of paying pensions to retired public sector workers remains on track.

The new delivery timescales are now available on the SPPA website so that you can find information relating to your circumstances.
